12+ places

Post by Sally-Anne »

I gather that RGS will not have any 12+ places available in Year 8. Apparently the school is 5 places over PAN (at 197 vs 192) and will not admit any more children at present.

The lack of places at RGS is no great surprise - the school has been unable to fill post-11+ places on most occasions.

If anyone has further information to offer about 12+ places at other schools I am sure it will be gratefully received.

Dear Sally-Anne

Thanks for this information. We're still waiting to hear if we've got a place (14th May). Does anyone know if there are any places available at John Hampden for entry into Year 9 in September?

Fingers crossed for everyone...

Hi Sally-Anne,
I'm probably getting a bit muddled here, but I thought that the RGS did not admit children through the 12+ process, but administered their own entrance exams after year 7 entry? Have I got this wrong?
By the way, John Hampden is considering foundation status (maybe this is old news?).

They admit boys at 12+ ie into year 8 (if there are places available) but you are right - they set their own test rather than using the standard Bucks 12+ test.

Post by panickingmum »

Hi,

Does anybody know the statistics for the 12+ this year, ie. how many took it and how many passed?

No idea of official data for this year's 12+.

I do know 6 kids at local secondary school who took the exam and they were all successful and are keeping everything crossed that they will be allocated places at Grammar Schools.

Good Luck to you panicking mum.

Thanks for that Bucks Mum. No-where seems to have any places so not holding out too much hope! My DD did so well and flew the exam but there is no allowance for this!

These numbers are really for information only, because they are from the January 2010 census of school places, and so are probably out of date by now, but they might be helpful in broad terms to anyone hoping for a 12+ place.

We should get our letter today saying if we've been given a grammar school place. Has anyone had their letters?

Good luck to everyone and fingers crossed....

Hi Sharone. Would your postie usually have been and gone by now? If so then I would suggest ringing Bucks to find out when they were actually sent.

Waiting for 2nd round allocations was horrendous and the letter turned up two day's after it should have been, even longer for some people :(

GOOD LUCK, really hope you get a place :D
