World Cup 2010 - Excited or not?

Post by pheasantchick »

Are you excited about the forthcoming World Cup? I've got two boys who are really looking forward to it.

I wasn't that excited. However, some streets around are are nicely decorated with bunting and flags (others are over-the-top) which gives it a carnival atmosphere. No doubt, if (?!) we do well, I'll get swept along with the atmosphere.

(Apologies to any Welsh/Scottish/N. Irish/non-world-cup qualifiying people reading this.)

Nope, absolutely not excited in the least little bit in this house - even OH isn't 'that' bothered by football , much more a rugby (and that has to be league - not of this naff union stuff :shock: :lol: ) and cricket fan.

My ex hubby and son on the other hand are football mad, to the extent that my son who has just finished a 9 week course (he's in the police force) has tagged his annualy leave onto his shift pattern (his 'down time') and now has 5 weeks off!!! Crazy :shock: :lol:

Not.

Household of 5 and not even a faint glimmer of interest, thank goodness, apart from DD who drew Italy in the class sweepstake and stands to gain a Twirl bar if they are in the final and a box of chocs if they win.

DS2 observed that 'only Vauxhalls have England flags' - anyone else noticed this?

Two football obsessed boys here. They spend their spare time going through the fixtures to try and work out the probability of obscure teams meeting each other in the finals :roll:. DS2 was most upset that "only the girls drew teams with any hope of winning" (said with the derision that only a 9 year old can master!) out of the class sweep stake. DS1 was actually born during the World Cup 1998 so it's all my own fault really :wink:.

me too!
It was my sister's 5th birthday and my Dad kept leaving my mum to the chaos of the party games and sneaking off to watch the football. I think it was about 40 years before she forgave him.

Not that fussed about football but I like filling in the charts :oops:

Already sick of it :evil: Can't believe it's not even started yet. Between the world cup and bl**dy Big Brother, the TV will not be worth putting on for the next 3 months :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:

Nah, definitely not excited, not even a glimmer on interest in this household for the football or BB.

Mr inkypinkyponky doesn't like football but luuuurvves F1 motor racing - now that really is boring!

I prefer rugby and cricket, I don't ever mind who wins, I just like the chaps in their tight clothes..................... :D

* sigh *
