Renewal of Driving Licence

Post by hermanmunster »

OK so I am a dinasour ... but only discovered today that the photo driving licence only lasts 10 years and has to be renewed after this time at a cost of £20 ...

so 10% of the driving population are having to cough up each year.

I thought (naively) that it lasted until I was 70 but there is a date under 4b on the front of the photocard which gives the expiry date.

We could have kept our old paper ones, and never needed to exchange them unless moving house. Mind you the photo on mine is so atrocious, I might be quite happy to change it

It also costs £20 to replace if you lose it...my son 'lost' his, bit of a problem getting served anywhere, applied to get a new one, then found the old one in his wallet - clown

Nice little earner for the government though

Do you know, I'd love to be able to use a horse and cart as my form of chosen transport - it's just that my back yard's not big enough to keep a horse AND cart in - one or t'other, oh, and the horse couldn't turn round - would that matter?
