Help please - appeal hearing, missing info

Post by Parent2 »

Can someone shed some light on the appeal hearing and the required info.

I went to an appeal hearing for my DD recently for a selective school recently. Though the school had provided information on my DD's rank and marks/score for the 1st and 2nd round exams, they failed to provided cut-off score/marks for the first and second round exams.

when I raised this at the appeal hearing, the school representative said it will be clarified/provided and the chair took note of it.

I believe my DD is only a mark or two below the final cut-off marks and wondered why school failed to provide this crucial piece of information for the decision making.

Please help how I can find out if the panel had the info before they made the decision and does the decision depend on haw far are you off the final cut-off score ?

Thanks.

Generally speaking I would have thought that the further away you are from a qualifying score, the stronger your case would need to be - and the closer you are, the better.

I suggest you contact the clerk/administrator to raise your concerns - to see what response you get.

Alternatively you could write to the clerk/administrator requesting a copy of the clerk's notes, but be prepared for the fact that they may try to resist providing them. See:

Thanks Etienne.

I have a gut feeling that the school purposely withheld the information.

I will try to contact the clerk to find out. Then again if the panel has made the decision without this information, will it too late contest now ?

Feeling bit short-changed here in the process...

If something has been done incorrectly, you could complain to the ombudsman.

Let's see what sort of response you get from the clerk.

Keep in touch.

I acted all honestly and fairness.

But the school of such calibre and name, failed to maintain professionalism and fairness.

If I have go to ombudsman, then I will do it without hesitation.

I will wait for the clerk's response.
