Re: A level results
http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/sch ... s/grammars this link shows how well the schools have done
At the time of publishing this post the results were as follows:
Pates in 8th
Tommies at 40th
Ribston at 99th
Not all results were in and so that could all change
I know Pates publishes a list of the students and the Uni's/courses they are to attend. Not entirely sure when that happens or if it is public info. I don't know about the other grammars.
Comps are available here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/sch ... rehensives
Top comps so far:
Balcarras = #42
The Cotswold School = #63
Cleeve = #107

Re: A level results
Do take those results table with a pinch of salt.
My local igrammar is in the Top 10 but its not a reflection at all about this school. Most of the kids take 5 or 6 A levels so that gives them more aggregate points. That table is based on quantity not quality. They topped GCSE tables last year too simply because most do 14 or 15 GCSE.

Absolutely!!! Totally agree..there are all sorts of ways of skewing resultssherry_d wrote:Do take those results table with a pinch of salt.
Re: A level results
I note that the table is based on schools who have chosen to submit their results. There may be many who chose not to submit and therefore a full comparison cannot be made in real terms. The schools are ranked on the average points per candidate.
http://www.university-list.net/uk/rank/ ... 00001.html this list is based on average points per entry. You have to go a loooooooog way down to get past the Indie schools before Pates makes an appearance at #94
Cheltenham College #319
High School For Girls #371
Stroud High #468
Marling #545
I for one do not really understand any of it!!!

Re: A level results
This one is way better and I think it gives a much better picture than the Guardian one.
At least Pates made it in top 100. The superselective and Best of Kent is sitting at no 185
My local one which was sitting at no 9 in the Guardian has its rightfull place number 353.
Is the list based year on this year's results though?

Re: A level results
Glad to see Dean Close at 277 considering it is not selecitve and the average ability intake, is well, very average. Of course the fact it's beating Chelt Coll is just the icing on the cake!
Re: A level results
There is a results table published in the paper version of the Echo today (can't find an online link), bearing little resemblance to others quoted here and in the national press. Examples for local grammars, comps and indies:
School A*toC A* to B
Pates 99.8 ; 94
Tommy Rich 94.8 ; 75.3
Denmark Rd 90.1 ; 68.8
Ribston 82.9 ; 55.31
Crypt No data
CLC 99.4 ; 94.2
Chelt College 87 ; 69
Dean Close 91.2 ; 74
St Edward's 93.1 ; 75.1
Stroud High - ; 72
Marling 83 ; 55
Balcarras 83.3 ; 64.1
Cleeve 72.7 ; 51.2
Cotswold 86 ; 62
Sorry about the spacing and non-alignment - I have tried reformatting this several times but it always reverts to a mess when I submit it. No idea where the figures are from - p21 of today's Echo.

Re: A level results
These are the A/B grades for 2010 nationally (states schools). A bit of scrolling maybe needed but Pates will be easier to see
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/se ... chool.html
Those girls at Henrietta Barnnet oh my world. Nearly 40% A*
