GL Ass Paper 3 qu 48

Post by sparkle »

Hi all,
How would you best explain the answer to question 48, finding the formula for the area of a hexagon?
Many thanks.

if it is the one i am thinking of
break hexagon down into 6 triangles, find area of one triangle ( A = 1/2 base x height) then multiply your answer by 6

yes I remember that question. I agree with yoyo. I think the hexagon was a regular hexagon (all sides the same length) and therefore it could be split into 6 equilateral triangles. So all you need to do is find the area of one of these triangles by using 1/2bh and then multiply the result by 6
