Please Help with verbal reasoning by Susan J Daughtrey

My son has been doing verbal reasoning by Susan. There is one question is YV is to BE as MN is to ( )?
The answer is NM.

We can't work out why because Y+3 is B , V +9 is E so we think M+3 is P , N+9 is W so we think answer is PW.

Please help us how to work this one out.

Hi,

I believe this is what some people call a mirror code, ie imagine you have a mirror in the middle of the alphabet (between m and n) each letter swaps with its opposite in the mirror. Alternatively count in from "the ends" of the alphabet.
