News from Pate's site on numbers sitting/results date
From Pate's website:
Most current Pate’s parents will immediately empathise with those of nearly 1000 boys and girls who sat the entrance test on Saturday – more than ever before. The results will be communicated to parents by 18th September.

I wonder if that is 1,000 for the whole county or 1,000 who ticked Pates?
There are around 840 places in grammar schools (7 schools with an intake of about 120 each).
It could be that if this is 1,000 who ticked Pates, more people have sussed that you may as well tick all the boxes on the back of the form.
As I've mentioned before, two schools admissions clerks were overheard on the morning that applications closed expressing surprise at the low number of applications to take the test this year.
Very curious!
