My child is in now Y5. We are thinking of moving house to get closer to our prefered school. When would be have to move by for our new address to be considered for admissions purposes?

asap.

When we did it a couple of years ago, we wanted to be in catchment when we filled out the first of the paperwork early in year 6 and certainly before sitting the test.

I did ring Bucks and was told that whether or not we lived in catchment didn't strictly matter till shortly before allocation (January, I think, but phone to check).

However, we wanted the comfort of not worrying about a change of address getting mislaid and us being counted as out of catchment when actually we were in.

The deadline (for the first round of allocations) is published each year in the guide to secondary schools. In the current guide, for Sept. 2007 entry, it was 15th December 2006.
