The passmark

Post by mum2010 »

Does anyone know what the passmark was for this year's test? Both cumulative and per paper?

It is an aggregate of 360, with one paper being allowed to drop to 117 - so you could score 123, 120 and 117 (aggregate 360) and gain a pass, but score 130, 120, and 110 (aggregate 360) and be a fail because one paper has dropped below 117.

The passmark is 360 but the score per paper cannot be below 117 to pass (but three papers each of 117 would not be a pass as they only total 351). For example a child may get 140 in NVR 140 in VR but 116 in Maths - this would give an overall score of 396 but would be considered a "fail" as one paper was below 117! Whereas another child may get 123 NVR 120 in VR and 117 in Maths - total 360 and pass! It is confusing :D
Also the superselective Grammars would be looking for passmark over 405 (TGGS) 405 (Skinners) and 410 (Judd), these may change with appeals and OOC. Hope this helps :D

It is now down to parental appeal - HT appeals were conducted before the results were released.

I think it is 117 on any paper, not any one paper. If that's correct you can drop below 120 on more than one paper. Otherwise KCC would have to quote a pass mark for an individual paper, and not just an aggregate pass mark.

I understand it to be one paper to be allowed to be 117, but the other two must be over 120, so could you couldn't have 116, 116 and 128 (aggregate 360) and be a pass.

It used to be, but I am not sure whether this has been the case for the last few years since the aggregate criteria was introduced.

If I recall correctly, a few years ago the pass mark for each paper was 120, but you were allowed to drop one paper, providing it was still above 115. There was not an aggregate pass score.
