Availability of train seats at Tonbridge

Post by franticmum »

Does anyone personally catch, or have children who catch the 'just before' 4.00 pm train from Tonbridge, towards Hastings?

What is the availability of seats from Tonbridge? I'm assuming that many people would have got off at Tonbridge itself and, I believe previously, at Sevenoaks and Orpington?

Are all seats either around tables or have pull down trays on the chair in front, like on aeroplanes?

Thanks

Hi Franticmum

I am a commuter and have occasionally passed through Tonbridge at this time and there are generally plenty of seats available (although they do fill quickly) and the carriages vary. Most Hastings trains have a mixture of tables and open seated carriages with the TW trains being mostly open seated arrangements which are easier for someone with plenty of bags/sports kits, etc.

edited to add: forgot to mention the squeaky 'airline' trays which I've noticed some trains now lack- most incovenient for hot drinks! The trains catering for longer journeys tend to have them though.

Yes, my DD has been catching that train from Tonbridge to Crowborough for 5 years (she is in the 6th form at TGS). The kids pile on then pile off, she's never mentioned seats or tables, just gossip!
