'libraby' or library?

Post by concerto »

My son did the exam this morning. When we picked him up, we noticed he had a sticker on his top. We asked him what it was for, and he said it was to show which room he did the exam in, which was the library. However, the sixth former who issued the sticker couldn't spell and wrote 'libraby' instead!!!!!! So he was going round all morning with 'libraby' on his shirt!
We weren't that impressed(!)...this is a sixth former from a KE grammar school and he can't spell library!!!!! My son could spell that in yr1...

If your son noticed the mistake and can spell as you say why didnt he just correct it as it was handwritten?

There are better things to worry about honestly.

My dd2 is a dreadful speller but she manages just fine. Some children are just good at it(my dd1 is) - for others like my dd2, its a real stuggle.

To my mind the spelling is not even close and therefore it looks more like the child was distracted rather than can't spell! These events are rather hectic.

Bad spelling and punctuation causes hypertension in the Munster household ..... some are know to ask for pens to start correcting things they see......... (fortunately rarely actually done!)

Was it in upper case (capitals)? I can see how after the 23rd sticker an "R" might mutate into a "B" if writing on autopilot....
