Confused about how offers are made

Post by sang »

Hi

Sorry if this is a stupid question...just trying to understand how the whole thing works..

Please consider this scenario:

Child 1 has Schools A, B & C in this order on the CAF. So school C is the 3rd preference. Child 2 has School C as first preference.

Child 1 doesn't qualify for A or B, but qualifies for C with a score of, say, 120. Child 2 also qualifies for school C, but with a score of 118.

Who gets offered a place in school C first? I think it is Child 1 - is this correct?

Yes, the school doesn't know the order chosen, so places go by score.

I am looking at Langley, QE boys & Tiffin boys (all 3 are selective without any consideration to distance, as far as I know)

Hi Sang - yes all three are on score so your original question is correct. The child is offered the first school they are eligible for going down the list.... can imagine with 3 schools like this on the CAF it could get very complicated...
