Tiffin Girls proposed admissions outside of usual age group
Really confused by this proposal! It is on the TG website in the "Admissions" section. Do they mean a year younger or the year older or both? What about the standartisation? Consultation closes on 22 of January 20011.

can happen occasionally - a very prem child may be put in their "real" year ie the academic year they should have been born in, or a child coming from abroad (eg europe) where school hadn't started yet eg a year 1 or 2 may be put in a year lower. Also the occasional child is put in a year higher than their normal year - it was threatened for me once while staying for a while with relatives (phew didn't happen). re standardiation - they just have to go outside the tables..... I suspect a younger child would have to do exceptionally well to get in and hence the standardisation would be irrelevant

The school adjudicator recently took the view that the Tiffin school was failing to meet the mandatory requirements of the Code by its refusal to test outside of the normal age group. As Tiffin Girls seem to have a similar policy I presume they are trying to rectify the problem before they find themselves in front of the adjudicator.

The two schools may need to coordinate their arrangements to conform to Equal Opportunities legislation.

yes there is a hint on the Tiffin Boys website
Both schools should have the same admissions policies, but there are difference between the numbers of places and Tiffin Boys can oversubscribe, TG-alas...no

Tiffin boys do not mind over offering. It provides with additional revenue as each child brings extra funding. They have 140 per year group and 5 tutor groups of about 28 ,so one to more will not make a huge difference.
