and also don't want to appear to self sure that we might even be lucky enough to get an offer
help please !! you can see im getting worked up and worried here and want to do the right thing

Re: help
depends on the head really ... some could find it irritating! some might like the attention....
I wouldn't do it, I would just let them get on with the process of selection.

Re: help
If one had younger children who you might be considering a place there for in the future, how about booking a slot with the head if the oldest does not get in - maybe for a bit of informal feedback as to what the school is looking for. It might help you in future applications, and it might help if some places do come up off waiting lists later in the year for the oldest?
Or would this look too pushy too and spoil chances for younger ones?

Think this is very reasonable - much more sensible to get feedback before trying again with a younger sibling.
Re: help
I would only book an appointment to see the Head if there was something specific/crucial that you wanted to discuss. We met the Head at Habs. I think MTs should see the parents too as it gives us a chance to talk about our worries and act as advocates for our children's abilities and qualities.
Lots of luck today emmalulu, I know this means a lot to you ***
