GL Maths Pack 1 paper 1 (milkman & baker)
Please could anyone help me on this sum !
A milkman and a baker deliver to the same house.
In a period of 28 days, the milkman calls every second day and the baker every third day.
They meet at the house twice in the first 7 days.
How many more times do they meet during the 4 week period ?
The answer is : 3 times
Please explain how to solve these type of questions.

Write out the multiples of 2 and 3
2, 4, 6, ...
3, 6, ...
This tells us that they meet every 6 days.
If they met twice in the first week they both started on day 1 (Sunday) and met again on day 7 (Saturday).
In the subsequent week they must meet on day 6 (Friday).
In week three they would meet on day 5 (Thursday) and finally in week 4 they would meet on day 4 (Wednesday).
Many children are happiest with these if you write out the days of the week and then count on six each time.
