Geometry

Post by cbiscette »

Good morning everyone - Can you help with the below:

1) A box is 2cm tall, 3cm wide and 2 1/2cm deep. It contains cube each with a volume of 1cm cubed. some cubes are broken in half. what is the volume of the whole box - think it's 2x3x2.5 - is this correct?

2) If all these cubes and half cubes are stacked on a base which is 1cm wide and 2.5cm deep, how high will the pile be?
Not too sure how to work this out?

I find diagrams brilliant for this sort of thing.

Have you looked at the Usborne Illustrated Maths dictionary? It has excellent explanations. I use it all the time.
