A quick look, assuming this is a 2 operation set of numbers, either its a publishers error or kili has written down the incorrect numbers.
Kili, which set of papers are these numbers from?
Will take a "proper" look when I get back from visiting some elderly Aunts...

so 17-3=14, 14-7=7
and 25-14=11, 11-7=4
the (8) looks like a typo!
