2011 A level results

Post by Guest55 »

Before the usual comments in the press about 'easier exams', may I congratulate ALL students on their results?

As a teacher it really annoys me that people decry the examination system on the very day the students get their results!

Students did not change the system so please let's all let them enjoy the fruits of their hard work. :D :D :D

An interesting article in today's Guardian about a press release sent out by Badminton School ( private girls ).

They are obviously so certain of spectacular success that they were happy to offer pictures of girls " who speak extremely well and take a good picture " ie thin, blonde, clever girls leaping in the air, days in advance of the actual results to accompany any article the paper was planning to run about A level results.

I wonder if the sender of the press release had any idea of the political leanings of The Guardian and the likelihood of it publishing such a picture.

Good luck to everyone, just waiting for one GCSE in this house thank the lord.

Thank you, Guest55. :)

And Marigold, you've confirmed something I've suspected for a long time - as far as the press is concerned, it's only girls that take A-levels.

I would like to add my own good luck wishes to anyone collecting their results tomorrow - including any boys, I'm sure there are some out there!

Well said Guest55! Awaiting AS results in the Fran household. Gave my DS a big hug tonight and told him not to fret. We know he has worked hard and we are very proud of him whatever the results. Good luck to everyone out there awaiting results. Such an incredibly stressful time for these young people. :)

Miss Magwich is awaiting A2 results tomorrow at 10.00am - pity her school cannot be bothered to get themselves out of bed until 10.00am- some schools have teachers who can be bothered to get up at 6.00am!!

If anyone reading this cannot access track to see if their place is confirmed you can phone UCAS on 0871 468 0468 and they will tell you if your firm offer is confirmed.

Hi Everyone

Some advice needed.

My daughter is hoping to study Maths at a top Uni.

Her Maths results were very good. 100, 97 ,93 and 84.She got 97 and 94 in Jan modules.

She got an A in her Chemistry AS but a C in Physics.

The Physics was unexpected and she was predicted an A.

Her school will want her to drop one AS.Which now looks like it should be Physics.

I know Cambridge has Physics as one of their preferred A levels. If she retakes itwould have to go on the form.

I wonder what Unis will think of the C.

Any ideas . Thanks Clare
