school decisions....
If not grammars what is the best option in sutton area?
Which private school in sutton- croydon area as we have to pray for the best and be prepared for the worst.
Which comprehensive is recommended widely in this area?
Any comments on Graveney school, SW London
Thanks,

I'll move it! Hold on tight...
Re: school decisions....
Boy or girl? And which schools have you been to visit so far?
Re: school decisions....
I've heard great things about Whitgift. Definitely worth a look.
Re: school decisions....
I have a DS. Thanks all-
Re: school decisions....
Comprehensive school will depend almost entirely on where you live as almost all oversubscribed.
Independent again will vary on where you live. Croydon direction theres trinity, Whitgift and royal Russell depending on how academic and how deep your pockets
Epsom college, Kings wimbledon-both year 9 entry
Kingston grammar
more if prepared to travel further

Graveney is a partially selective school and in Wandsworth? It isn't a school I have ever heard of anybody going to from Sutton or surrounding areas. Would the journey be O.K?
Comprehensives, as surreymum says, will depend more on where you live than which ones you prefer.
There are a number of good ones but they are all over subscribed so unless you live close to them, you won't get a place. Generally if you live in Sutton, or just over the border in Surrey, then you will only be close enough to 1 or at best 2 comprehensive schools that you could realistically get a place at so you either have no choice or a choice between your 2 nearest ones.
Greenshaw is the only partially selective school left in the area that takes boys (Rosebery for girls has an optional music test and Glyn nolonger has any test). Greenshaw takes 60 pupils based on a test so catchment area doesn't matter if you pass the test.

Thanks all!
Yes, we are close to Stanley park, Carshalton boys, Greenshaw and possibly Overton Grange too.
No idea though, which is good ?:(
Graveney seems to be a 35-40 mins journey, but i would rather prefer a nice comprehensive to distance.
As surrey mum suggested for independent schools deep pockets are rather crucial.
Any suggestions , most welcome
