Kendrick Exam formats

Post by rarunkps »

Hi All,

My daughter is taking 11+ exams at Kendrick this year.

I understand that she gets 50 minutes for verbal and 50 to 60 minutes for non verbal.

I am not sure how many questions would she be getting in verbal and non verbal, is it 80 questions or 100 questions or some thing else.

What were the format in previous years, Could some one pl share the details,

Thanks a lot for your replies

Regards

Feedback from previous years,

VR 100 questions 50 mins, you can use time at the end to go back and check.

NVR 75 questions in sections, approx. twenty questions in ten minutes, they do a couple of practice questions before each section, you can not go back to a section or move forwards so can be a bit time stressed.

Good luck. :)

Thanks Steve for the reply.

I am surprised that Kendrick gives less time for verbal than non verbal.

100 questions in 50 minutes means my daughter gets 30 sec per question but for non verbal she needs to answer 75 questions in 50 minutes which gets her 45 sec per question.

I thought that normally in exams VR gets more time to answer than NVR.

When my son wote for reading boys few years back he received 80 verbal questiosn in 50 minutes

Are Kendrick & Reading formats different. Has Kendrick changed the formats recently.

Thanks for the replies

Both VR and NVR are 30 seconds a question.

NVR is in sections so you have a couple of minutes to look at the practice questions (and possibly look ahead at real questions  ) then you might have nine minutes to do 18 similar questions which is the marked test!

So in total you will complete 75 questions in 37.5 minutes, the practice questions don't count as marks or time.

In the standard format test (Kendrick VR), is she allowed to round off the questions which feels difficult?
As rubbers are not allowed she can't erase the markings!

The instructions are along the lines of,
Make any alterations to your answers clearly, you will not lose marks for crossing out.

Yes, but best to cross out above the answers, leaving one clearly circled, a b c d e, correct answer below!

The children are not allowed to use the erasers in Kendrick exam. What if they want to change the answers? Any other input regarding the exam format (time? number of questions, break time etc.) and last minute tip would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
