AGSG + SGS results in today, Monday.
Hi,
Got both today. Both passes, poped into school to say well done to her
Question if anyone knows ? She go a nice score above the pass and we are in the catchment area. But what are the chances of NOT getting in (AGSG) if you pass ?
FYI..
Qualifying pass for AGSG = 334
Qualifying pass for SGS = 353
Good luck all,
Neil

Thank you.
Hi,
We are not dead close, but in the catchment comfortably.
I thought they passed a couple more pupils then places, in case some go to different schools. So there is a chance you could drop out of the bottom of the list ? Hope not
Thanks,
Neil

Neil - many congratulations to your daughter!
Once your daughter has passed AGGS apply the sibling criteria and then the distance criteria - girls who have passed, live in catchment and have sisters at the school will be at the top of the list, then girls who aren't in catchment but have sisters at school, and then girls in catchment, based on distance from school. Once your daughter has passed her score is pretty much irrelevant, it's distance that matters.
For info we are in Didsbury and my daughter got a place a few years ago.
I am still waiting for the postman to see if her sister is joining her!

Roughly where do you live, Neil? eg Altrincham, Sale, Lymm, Knutsford, Wilmslow etc.
Distance varies each year due to siblings and other factors but the 8 miles is AGGS's best estimate of what should be in the ballpark. Where the final girl comes from also depends each year on whether they admit the 174 that they have as their PAN (6 classes of 29), or whether they add an extra class, which obviously then widens the area. The current Years 7 and 8 are both 6 form entry, whereas the current Years 8, 9 and 10 are 7 form entry (although the PAN was also 174 in each of those years as well). I don't know if anything has been firmly stated this year, but it's possible that with building works complete they may go for another 7 form entry this year.

I am about 1.5 mile closer than Didsbury. We have been in the circle (the one on the map, on the school open day) by a good way, the last 2 years. So i'm happy about that.
Looks like she in (so relived).
PS. 173 places this year (on the letter).

You should be fine, but make sure you use a choice on the form to pick a school that you are 100% likely to get into just as a back-up.
So AGGS are going for 6x30 as their PAN this year, eh? That should certainly help with the poor girl in each class at present who has to sit on her own or have no partner in gym.
Congratulations, by the way.
Any more Sale or AGGS results from anyone else?

Not passed sadly.
Am having a bit of a cry to get it out of my system before I see her. Her big sister will be really disappointed too
