Type K clarification
Can some one explain the right method to solve type k question please?
64( 1 )8 1000( 2 )10 125( )5
Answer is 2.
My understanding is:
64 divided by 8 = 1 ; involves division 1 time
1000 divided by 10 = 100; 100 divided by 10 = 10; involves division 2
times
125 divided by 5 = 25; 25 divided by 5 = 5; involves division 2 times. Hence the answer is 2
Is this the right approach? Thanks gaap

You got there ! Actually it is a case of learning squares and cubes and recognising them in the questions:gaap wrote:Can some one explain the right method to solve type k question please?

so
3- 9 - 27
4 - 16 - 64
5 - 25 - 125
etc
10- 100 - 1000
the number in the middle is the number of times the first number is multiplied.
Re: Type K clarification
Thanks hermanmunster for your quick reply. This is the first time I have come across this type of approach for Type K question. I have been teaching DD to use mathematical operations like multiply, divide, add, sub, double, half and square to solve such questions.

Re: Type K clarification
This is really multiplication and division - just handy to recognised the patterns as gives clues to how to hunt for the answer

Re: Type K clarification
I think the question becomes a lot more confusing if you have been taught 5 (any number) squared, cubed because 8x8 is 8 squared, so number 2 can't help but spring to mind. The same with 125. It's three fives. I would like to think our children will find it easier and approach in a pattern way.
