Dress code for St Albans School exam/interview day

Post by PlutoMum »

Can anyone advise what my son should wear to the St Albans School exam and interview day tomorrow? The letter just says that he does not need to wear school uniform. Because the day also involves an interview do you think he should be wearing a shirt and trousers? Or maybe smart jeans and a polo shirt would be ok? I want him to be comfortable for the morning of tests but not under or overdressed.

Thanks for any advice!

I think its a group interview tomorrow so smart casual clothes should be fine :)

We're also off to St Albans school tomorrow. I think smart jeans and a polo shirt would be fine (that's similar to what our DS will be wearing). Like you say, you want them to feel comfortable, rather than "dressed up", and from the two other exams we've attended, most children seem to be dressed for comfort rather than smart (although neither of them had a group interview). Also, one previous exam was in a cold school hall, so we'll be giving him a jumper to take along in case...

Good luck!

Thanks luckydip and maddad for your quick responses.

I wasn't expecting a group interview - how does that work? Surely the quieter (or less practiced) boys will be at a disadvantage?

Good luck to your DS too!

Its probably to get a feel of how the boys interact in a group situation. The conventional one-to-one interviews will be after the exams. The best advice in these situations is to be yourself........

All the best for tomorrow :)
