St Albans

Post by Waiting_For_Godot »

Im looking for some general info on St Albans: length of school day (start and finish) including when extra-curric activities take place and if there is Saturday school or a requirement to play in matches on a Saturday. Also the size of classes in Year 7/8/9 and the amount of homework each night.

Thanks

The Additional Information Booklet on their website contains some general info, including daily timetable, class sizes, etc.

Hope this helps - School coaches are timetabled to arrive at school at 8.25am - so boys arrive from 8.15 to 8.30am, and lessons finish at 4pm
After school activities generally are 4pm-5.30 /6pm and the late coaches leave just after 6pm - there are also lunchtime activities. Saturday sport is for those involved in matches and sometimes house sports and is usually 9.30ish til about 12 but if you are not sporty you are asked to do open mornings etc so saturday mornings are part of school life (but not necessarily all year round !) If you are in a sport squad you also do fitness gym training as well as squad training.
Class sizes in the 1st form (yr7) are @20-22 boys (this current 1st form has 4 classes)and they have a homework timetable with 3 subjects each night - they do lots of regular tests especially in maths, the sciences and languages and were put into maths sets in january.
They are busy busy boys !!
