CRB check

Post by Waiting_For_Godot »

I was CRB checked by a primary school about 5/6 years ago but was never given a number - do you get given a number? Obviously I was clear but someone asked me if I have CRB clearance as they want me to chaperone children and I don't know if I do, or how I can obtain proof.

You don't get a number - just a piece of paper. I think it only counts for the one organisation you work / volunteer for so some people have multiple checks. Doesn't last very long either (though no specific time)

Most volunteering institutions ask you to redo it every 2 years

You will have to do another one I'm afraid. We do them every 2 years.

I have been checked for each thing I do, working in a school, volunteering with children and to go on school trips. I do not think being checked by one organisation is transferable to another, which I think is an appalling waste of money and resources but someone is obviously making a huge amount of money out of the system so I imagine things will not change. I have to be "re done " every three years by my school so your check 5/6 years ago is probably irrelevant.

My 18 year old daughter has been checked 5 times for various work placements on her course . She has not been able to commit any crimes as she is too busy filling in the bloomin paperwork.

at the moment you need a separate crb for each institution .

of course all it proves is that you haven't been caught
