Re: GCSE Religious Studies
Sorry do you mean that all pupils have to do this for GCSE? if so - the answer is no, many do a half GCSE - others don't do it at all

Sorry, my English is too bad; sorry for this
Is GCSE compulsory?
Is GCSE compulsory?
Re: GCSE Religious Studies
No . Some schools may make it compulsory. At DCs' school they have to do at least a half course.

Re: GCSE Religious Studies
This is from the Government (DfE) website. What's compulsory?
Some subjects are compulsory because they cover essential knowledge and skills that everyone needs for the future.
The subjects you'll have to take exams in are:
English
maths
science
This usually means GCSEs, but these subjects may also be available at entry level.
There are some other subjects that you have to study, but may not lead to exams:
careers education
citizenship
information and communication technology (ICT)
physical education (PE)
religious studies
sex and relationships education
work-related learning
Some schools have other compulsory subjects - check with your teachers.
It is compulsory to study RE. But it is not compulsory to take a GCSE in it, though lots of schools do make the GCSE compulsory. Does that make sense?

Re: GCSE Religious Studies
depends on your child's school. Some make a whole or half GCSE compulsory. Many do 3 sciences anyway and so not much more you can do there.
Which school is it? someone may be able to advise about the options there.
