Test order

Post by Cartref »

Hi,
Does anyone know the order that the 3 elements of the warwickshire grammar school 11+ were administered in for the October 2011 test.
My son thinks he did numeracy first, then VR, then NVR.
Would be helpful to know - thinking of appealing.
Thanks

My DS thinks he did Maths then NVR and then english - see previous post in "preparing for the 2012 test" in this forum. Although DS did well in the test I think it was appallingly unfair with so much vocabulary on ballet and chess and was very rushed even for DS who works recklessly quickly!
I have helped a few other parents with warwickshire appeals before although I have no specialist knowledge (have has 3 children go through it - no more left thank goodness!). If I can be of any help please PM me. Good luck anyway.

My ds2 said English was tested in the second half.

Just a quick question about the test results and splitting of marks; do the VR, NVR and Numerical Reasoning all carry the same weighting? Or is it as the Bgham KEGS, where VR has 50% of the marks and NVR and Numerical Reasoning account for 25% each?

It looks like for Warks the 3 sections carry the same weighting again, as the Warks standardised scores are quoted in the 300s rather than 200s. The Birmingham scores for 2011 and 2012 are quoted in the 200s as there are just the 2 sections "Maths & NVR" and "VR". So a child who is strong in English but weaker on Maths and NVR might be successful in Birmingham but unsuccessful in Warks, I guess?

From info posted here about past years it has been approx equal (though in no way representative of the amount of time/questions in the exam).
