Waiting lists

Post by stressplus11 »

I telephoned Southend Council today and was told that my DD is on the waiting list for Southend Girls and is in position 8. Would someone know if there is any chance/a good chance/an excellent chance of her getting into the school??? I am not sure where you would have to be on the list to give up hope. We live in the chelmsford area. I would be very grateful of any help. Does anyone have any experience of waiting?

Thanks

Your DD will have a good chance as long as Chelmsford children , do not add their names as late applications, whereby they will go above as their scores will be higher than your DD.

I hope you don't mind replying, but what was your DD's score and ranking?

I believe this information would help others gauge where their DDs are for Southend Girls.

Many thanks.

It doesn't make any difference whether you are in catchment or not. Good luck with the waiting, 8th looks promising. Beware that other people can join the waiting list and they will be put on the list according to their score.

Hi Stresspluss11

We're in a similar position to you, on waiting list for SHSG, so wishing you the best of luck creeping up that list.

Though we were a bit peeved to learn we've already been bumped down the list 2 places :( from 7th to 9th. Didn't think that could happen till end of March.

Can't face calling them again but if anyone else can figure out why this can happen, we'd love to know.
