maths

Post by slush »

Can someone kindly help with maths question.

A family of 5(2 adults and 3 children) go out for a day and the total cost of train tickets is £31.50. The children travel at half price. What is the cost of an adult ticket?

Thank You

2 adults and 3 children = 3.5 equivalent whole adult fairs so one whole adul fair = 31.5/3.5 =£9

If children are 1/2 price then adults are 2/2 , I'd divide the total by 7 to get a price for child's ticket then double this to find adult ticket price
