Transport to Slough Grammar School
My Son is going to start Slough grammar school in September and we are looking for professional coach service we can use. We leave in Sudbury close to wembley.
Any recommendation on which coach service we can use or what to look out for when we select ?
Thanks

Re: Transport to Slough Grammar School
We live in Houslow (south) and my child would be using a coach service from central avenue to SGS/LGS,
if anybody else wants it too, it would be cheaper.

Re: Transport to Slough Grammar School
Hi,
We are based in Luton and our child's starting Slough Grammar coming September.
Whilst we realise that commuting to Slough every day from here might not be possible, or practical, we want to try every option before moving close to Slough, if that's what we must do.
Anyone knows of any coach service doing Luton (or Hemel Hempstead area) to Slough Grammar School?
Will appreciate any other advice too on commuting to SGS, from the M1 area.
Many thanks.

I cannot believe there will be any sort of service from Luton to Slough. Your only option, until you move, is a train into London, then a tube and then a train from Paddington to Slough. What a horrid journey - is Slough Grammar really worth that?

Hi Rosika, and welcome!
You are not the first person this year to consider a journey from Luton to a distant GS - someone posted about the journey from Luton to Aylesbury, a journey that was not practical or realistic. Perhaps that is why I am not totally shocked that you would consider this idea, but otherwise I would have been.
You can search the travel options here: http://www.transportdirect.info/Web2/Jo ... heparam=10" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Reading Mum is completely right - the only realistic option is to commute into London, and then out again. Hemel Hempstead is a non-starter.
Please consider these points:
:: The maximum journey time for a secondary school pupil is considered, by the "powers that be", to be 90 minutes. Your child's journey is likely to exceed that; not by much, but it is also a very, very stressful journey for an 11 year old.
:: How will s/he cope with an 11 hour school day, plus homework?
:: After-school activities would seem to be pretty impractical, to the point of impossible, under this arrangement.
:: How quickly will you be able to collect him/her if they are taken ill during the school day?
:: How will s/he be able to socialise with school friends in the evenings or at weekends?
Even as a short term arrangement I can't see any way that this journey is viable for an 11 year old. If the place at SGS is critical for you or your child, you have to move house before September.
