Late entrance 12+ passed but no places at JHGS

Post by mag65 »

We recently moved back to our Bucks home from overseas and our son took a late entrance for GS on June 17 and passed with 132, JHGS is our only catchment school but they have no places. We have been given a place in Chesham but this is far from where we live. We recently heard about a successful transfer appeal where JHGS were forced to take a number of students yet we were not offered a place. Bucks CC said we can appeal but this will not be heard until September. Any advice on our next step would be appreciated.

This sounds correct. The admission authority can only offer you a place if there is a vacancy (i.e. if the number on roll drops below the published admission number). Successful appellants, on the other hand, are 'imposed', and additional to the normal admission number.

Timescales are set out here: http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeals/general#a23" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Appeals are not normally heard during the summer holiday.
Any advice on our next step would be appreciated.
