Not a good start - selecting a tutor

Post by 11plusID »

I have been researching local tutors for some last minute, intensive tutoring and so far I'm not having a lot of luck.

I found the website of a suitable qualified tutor, the website mentions tutoring for Maths, English and the 11+. As an added bonus there was also a testimonial from someone who had been accepted into our first choice school.

I sent a polite query letter only to receive the following message back (exactly as written):

'sorry but I don't tutor'

Not really sure what to take from that given that the website says he is a tutor, has testimonials from past students, as well as his hourly rates.

This is the only explanation I can think of but his response didn't really suggest that. We simply took it as "I am not a tutor". Although I accept emails can often be taken the wrong way.

Strange that he has a price list for this academic year on his site though.

Still, whatever the reason for his response I think we may be happier with someone else anyway.
