December ... not sure what you do if you work it out !! but Sept and Dec always start on the same day of the week.
Answer is 8 ... the sequence doubles each time, so the 18th divide by 17th would be 2 19th by 17th would 4 and 20th by 17th would be 8...Q39) In the sequence of numbers 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 .......what would be the answer if you divided the 20th number by the 17th number in this sequence?
Re: Help Pls
Thanks alot. I sometimes complicate things. thought DS needed to solve Q39 by finding the "nth term".
Re: Help Pls
September = 30 days Divisible by 7 - NOCozen wrote:Q38) One year, September 1st fell on a Friday. What was the next month which started on a Friday?
September+October = 61 days Divisible by 7 - NO
September+October+November = 91 days Divisible by 7 - YES
The next month is December.
Re: Help Pls
The easiest worhrd solution to the first problem is to look at remainders after taking off four weeks.
September 2 days
October 3 days
November 2 days
This makes the extra week needed.

1048576 / 131072 = 8 might be a bit tedious to do by hand.Cozen wrote:Thanks alot. I sometimes complicate things. thought DS needed to solve Q39 by finding the "nth term".

Re: Help Pls
you don't need to do such a sum as it is the relationship between any number in the series and the next or any subsequent numbers. Get the same answer if you look at the 80th divided by the 77th.daveg wrote:1048576 / 131072 = 8 might be a bit tedious to do by hand.Cozen wrote:Thanks alot. Re: Help Pls
nth term is 2^(n-1) therefore
20th term is 2^19
17th term is 2^16
2^19 / 2^16 = 2^(19-16) = 2^3 = 8
20th term is 2^19
17th term is 2^16
2^19 / 2^16 = 2^(19-16) = 2^3 = 8
Re: Help Pls
Can anyone explain how to work out Q12??
