bond 11 plus maths

hi need help please the question there are 630 children in a school. There are 5 boys to every 4 girls. There are .......boys and.......girls .Thank you

So, if you split all the children into groups of 9 (5 boys and 4 girls to each group) there would be 70 groups (630 divided by 9)

So there were 70 x 5 boys = 350

and 70 x 4 girls = 280 girls

And just to double check my maths - 350 + 280 = 630
