Tiffin near misses for entry this year - relevant news
I heard today that a boy who got into Tiffin this year has just emigrated for four years. I presume they'll fill his place. Don't know how, but on the off chance that it depends on who is still interested, may be worth a phone call if you aren't happy about where your DS ended up.

Not sure they will offer a place as the way the last few places are offered is that they take all candidates on say 229 which puts them over PAN. Would have to fall below PAN to offer at 228.

suzanne, I could be wrong but I understood that if the next mark down puts them over pan then they go by proximity. The one chance where a local child has priority. (But I'm basing this on info from previous threads on this forum, so it may have changed. It would seem a great shame, given how desirable a place at tiffin is, if the place is unfilled when a pupil departs this early Yr7.

Tiffin boys do not decide about the last ties on proximity. If the 140th places is tied between 2 or more aplicants, all are admitted. I think this is fair and to be much appreciated.

How does this work if that makes the class exceed the numbers allowed per class?

They have been admitting over 140 pupils for many years. Admission data is on their website.

Are you saying that his place may already have been in excess of their PAN, so no new pupil is likely to be allocated it?

That's what the admission data suggests.

What a waste of an opportunity for another boy. Sad.
