Which papers are Closer to Real?

Post by Sonia »

Hi All,

Countdown started for the actual Bucks exams (04-10-12)

Can someone tell me whether Susan Daughtery Bright Sparks are close the real papers or GL Pack 1 and Pack 2?

Regards

See this sticky:

We preferred the SD ones as they are 80 questions and contain all the types. The GL ones "look" like the real thing. In my son's opinion (!) the Bright Sparks were slightly more difficult than the real thing, but that was no bad thing as it made the real ones seem "easy" and helped him to speed up.

Yes agree with Scary Mum...GL are the same format as the real papers in terms of layout.

Have been told by many on this forum SD papers are closer to the real thing.. Walsh is hard believe me !
Personally I think its good to go through harder papers with the practice

GL PK2 my DS found harder. PK1 was a breeze with scores of 76 and above.

Just hear varying opinons here about the real thing...some children come out saying it was easier than their practice papers...some say it has been more difficult

Depends all on the day....The countdown has begun !

Thanks ScaryMum & Manny0311,

Daughter got 73/80 in Practice Paper A and 78/80 in Practice Paper 1( today).

Her class teacher told her that they will do last practice paper on Monday.

Do these scores matter or give any indication of how good the preparation is?

My stress levels and increasing by every passing day. :(

Good scores ! Again, as certain peopke have mentioned on the forum, Tests 1 and 2 are meant to be similar level of difficulty to the real thing. Are you doing bucks ??

At least it shows they have learnt all techniques !

I just feel it depends on the day. Could be a good or bad paper. Lets just hope they pass one...Thats for Bucks anyway.

DS went on the SD course which we all found was very good. She uses her bright spark papers and gives assessment to each individual throughout the courses.

you should get 2 packs of bright sparks
DS found them relatively easy as I said. Who is AE?
Ds has one more lesson left next week and that'll be it. He has his last GL paper sitting today

Hi Manny,

We will be leaving for the banding test (NVR) for Highcrest academy ( one of the second option) in half an hour.
