Loreto, out of the catchment area (category 6).

Post by Pumpkin Pie »

What are the changes of getting into Loreto having only just reached the pass mark and being out of the area?

Sorry to be personal but are you Catholic? If so I think you generally get in.

Should be fine then, at the St A open day they said that if a Catholic boy passes they have always got in in the past, whether they are in or out of catchment- I presume that is the same for the girls?

Aren't you cat5 not 6? Catholic at out of area school?

If so all Cat 5 got in last year- year before not all did, someone I know missed out as her score below someone else at school.

Fingers crossed same as last year :D

Pumpkin Pie, being Catholic is much more important than being in the area. We live very close to the school and were told that we didn't have a hope as not baptised anything at all. I'm sure you're not Category 6! You must be much higher up on the scale. Double check.

Ambrose and Loreto are totally different beasts. Ambrose often admits right down through all its categories. Loreto historically hasn't.

I think you are Cat 5 too if your daughter is baptised Catholic but not in a nominated deanery. Having a low score isn't great since they'll admit higher scoring girls within that category first, but you have a decent chance based on last year. Whether the same applies this year is hard to say, of course, but I think it's worth a punt.

Yes, you're right, category 5. My DD got a very high score, but I was just wondering what were the chances for her friend who just hit the pass mark. Thanks for all the replies! :D
