For those who were not succesful

Post by yoyo123 »

I do feel for those of you who have not had good news today.

It is so awful when you know that they did their best, but unfortunately it is just a snapshot of that day at that time.

If you think that you may want to appeal, have a look here

I'm really sorry too, PC :( perhaps when you get the scores, it might look more positive re an appeal. I'm sending you a big hug....hope your DS is okay?

Thanks for all your best wishes. DS seems to be taking it better than me (or has hit the red wine and icecream). One minute he's talking about non-gs, and next the gs and appeals. He quite openly mentioned it to parents at the sports club he went to earlier.

I think we'll find out scores tomorrow and take it from there. Will report back then.

Your DS and my DD both, one minute she`s talking about appealing, and the next she`s showing her beautiful "positive mental attitude", which I love her for, and pointing out she will be able to go to secondary school with her best friend, who also didn`t pass.

Likewise, she`s bounced back better than I. No wine and ice cream here, I just can`t eat.

I will have a chat to HT tomorrow, get her scores, see what she thinks and go from there.

She worked hard, and I owe it to her to investigate every avenue....

Our son didn't pass and is absolutely devastated. We were really surprised because he's consistently been top in all his mock tests, has a reading age that is off the scale, is top in maths and literacy and is even in the school's "gifted maths club". We feel he just blew it on the day, he did say he'd finished a lot earlier than the others so either he was overconfident or he missed out a paper (I told him "always look on both sides of the paper"!).

So anyway, I'm waiting until we get his test scores to decide whether to appeal or not. Am I right in thinking that the process for appeal is - 1. apply for a grammar school place, 2. automatically get turned down, 3. appeal after March 2012 when he's offered a secondary school place?
