More passes this year????
Hi, there seem to be loads more passes to Alty this year in DS's class, usually it is about 1/4 but it's a definite 2/3 this year- does anyone else feel the same? I shouldn't moan as I'm thrilled about it for DS but just seems strange!

Re: More passes this year????
There were fewer passes at AGGS this year and it was the same exam at AGSB.
Re: More passes this year????
Stop worrying!!! It went out to 6 miles last year. We'll be fine.agsbmad wrote:It's almost 90% at our school, but not everybody set this year. We are living less than 2 miles away but still worried sick.

Re: More passes this year????
Possible reasons could be pupils intelligence level increased this year due to recession hit or some other reasons.
I think if the pass rate increases in some primary, there are some other primary where it decreases and when sumup for certain catchment area, difference between this year and last year would be 20% higher from last year. For example if within 3 miles catchment 100 pupils got places last year, it will be 120 this year.
I couldnot belive it will be 80-100% increase this year within 2 miles radius, could you? Time will say.

Re: More passes this year????
Maybe more kids were tutored this year or more local private school kids that usually choose MGS tried for Alty due to recession?

I think you're bang on there. I doubt it's because all 10 year olds have suddenly grown bigger brains!agsbmad wrote:Maybe more kids were tutored this year or more local private school kids that usually choose MGS tried for Alty due to recession?
Re: More passes this year????
At my DDs old primary school this year 2 passed out of 4 taking the exam, last year 1 girl passed out of 8 and the previous year 1 passed out of 5 taking the exam.
The last time I am aware of something like this happening was the year that they had their first 7 form entry. Their reason to go for 7 forms was that they had so many in catchment passes they couldn't fit everyone into 6 forms. Good news for everyone if this turns out to be true as the previous 7 form years have some OOC kids and some appeals were granted for non qualification as they had spaces available after the all qualified children had received their place.
