Score below 303 (please post scores)
Hi,
Would much appreciate some help and advice......my daughter scored 296.69 in this years 11+. We are very pleased with how well she has done, but clearly the competition is very high. She has her heart set on SHSG, but would like to know if she would stand any slim chance of getting a place? Also, does anyone know how close this score is to the required 303? So near......but yet so far!

Sadly, she won't be offered a place at SHSG. She may make St. Bernard's though.
It is a tough exam and competition is fierce.

1. Apply anyway - get turned down automatically as not qualified - appeal decision and put forward a very good case?
2. Request an in-year transfer once your DD is in Yr 7 wherever she gets a place. If and when the school has a vacancy in her year she will be invited to be tested.
DD failed last year. She is happy at her allocated comprehensive, but after much deliberation has decided that she would like the chance, however remote, to "have another go" should a place come up.
However, although SHSG advised in June that we should contact Pupil Access at Southend BC (our LA) round about now, as this system comes in after half term (up till then, vacancies would still be filled from the waiting list), the response from Pupil Access this week was that one needs to contact them again at Christmas, because it is up until then that only waiting list candidates would be offered places

It would be good for the forum to have a few of these. Some of you have contacted me privately to speak about scores. Is there anyone who would be willing to share for the sake of balance?
It can be through me via PM if you would prefer.

My DS
English 19/50
Maths 17/40
VR 47/80
Standardised score 294.5.
So close........
Mocks far cry from these results, big shock.
Catchment area for SHSB and WHSB.
Considering appeal think I have grounds,,,,, but then do we need the heartache.

Oh skenty, that's cruel.
Well worth an appeal.
Have you considered St B?
Our D also had a really bad day but managed
to push above the 303 mark, thank god.

232. Coming to terms with it. Anyone have anything to say about Sandon, Baddow, New Hall, Felsted or Brentwood.
The last three are private and will involve more exams and a bursary application. We know we can't afford the fees, but I have been told that they all allow the right child to go on reduced/no fees, so we are thinking of giving them a go!
School predicted that she would pass for Chelmsford, so we hope that she may have a better day.
