Why is Herschel preferred over Langley?

Post by Browser »

My Ds did well in the slough consortium with a mark of 128

Why does it seem that everyone is after Herschel over Langley?

Confused :?

I didn't get to go to any of the open days.

Do you think the schools would allow me to have a look around now??

I think it all has to do with League tables....... Langley has historically been the 'top' rated grammar in Slough but over the last 5 years Herschel has been vying for top spot. I would say that you should visit the schools... give them a ring, say you were unable to visit on the open days and ask if you can come and see the school. The best rated school is not always the best school for your child.

I would put the first preference as the closest one which is easy to commute as I see no big diff between langley & herschel

Thank you chad,

I think I am short of time to get a look around, I had a drive around I will be putting Langley down as a higher preference , purely on distance..

Other peoples comments lead me to believe that Herschel seems to be the most popular especially from parents to the west of London and I just wondered why they wouldn't chose Langley over Herschel.

Both the schools look more or less the same, by merely looking at the websites. I'm not too fussed about league tables, although I am grateful that they are all doing relatively well and hands down I would chose a grammar over a normal comprehensive.

I just want an environment that will push my ds, and let him reach his potential.

The thing that would concern me, is things like bullying, I'm sure that is every parents nightmare.

Wishing everybody all the best.
