Will he struggle at Grammar school
My son has just finished year 5. He is at level 5 in Maths and Science and 4b in english. His teacher thinking he will pass the 11 plus exam but I worry he will struggle with his english, he has never been very confident with his english he is very quiet and shy, he doesn't like to ask for help if he is having a problem understanding something so I worry how he will cope if he does pass for grammar. Am I just being an over anxious?5
at 4b he is already at the "expected level" for end of KS2.
It seems he has the ability, and his teacher seems confident.
However you know your child best, I'd say go for it, you have a year to work on his English (thefre are some very good, fun sites on teh internet.
What does he say, does he feel he would like grammar

Thanks for your comments. He is unsure which school he would like to go toat the moment, I think it will depend on if any of his friends pass that might help him make his mind up. we are trying not to push one way or the other but we would prefer him to go to the grammar. we live in yorkshire, the exam take place mid september results mid october then we have about a week before we need to choose.3

Yes we are lucky this is the first year it has been this way in previous years the exam had been held in october and school choices had to be made without knowing if your child had passed. Hopefully this way we stand a better change of the children getting into their first choice school which has been a problem under the old system
