Can the AQS be increased above past three years score?

Post by ginx »

Not sure if my heading makes sense but I've just found my ds1's eleven plus results sheet from 2008.

He sat it four years ago (we were only given past three years results with my dd's result this year), and she would have needed 320 to get into RHS in 2009. The highest mark needed in the last three years for RHS was 311 ... as dd got 315, I am praying the pass mark won't be increased?

Sorry to have my name all over here. Having a day of panic and worry about dd.

1 - the number of places has gone up from 90 to 120 this year - which will bring the required score down.
2 - 2008 was before the inner and outer area rules came in, so scores will now be lower than that in the inner area, and higher in the outer area.

So look at the last couple of years, which will be a much better guide.

A lot less people this year than last, and extra places so looks good. Having said that, it seems really strange this year that in our modest primary there were some very high scores and over double the number of children that have got high scores. It's either a very lucky year for the class of 2013 or there going to set a pass mark of 340 and catch you all out! It does say in the 11 plus instructions that if not enough children get the AQS they dont have to award all the places. Hope for your sake that's not the case.

Janeymorris,

There were quite a few in our modest junior school, too, I'm just trying to count girls - twelve - usually it's around 9 I think - and there may be more girls, I don't know.

We are in the inner area but I take your point - a lot seemed to pass.

ginx's dd got a high enough ranking that if that happens there are going to be rather a lot of spare places!
