Tiffins Late Tests

Post by tiffinboys »

Tiffins late tests were held today.

Does any one has any idea about number of children who took the test?

If there were only 120 boys at the late tests and higher preference for Tiffins is broadly the same as last year, I estimate that the cut-off would be in the region of 231-233.

that is fewer children than anticipated.
Good for some that the cutoff remains in line with previous years or just slightly above.

Still a few months of uncertainty before we really know.

Yes, that is if figure of 120 or around is correct. And again higher preferences for Tiffins being more or less as last year. The cut-off would be even higher if significantly more children have Tiffins as higher preference.

From the girl's side, have been told figures of 200 to 300. One girl was in sports hall which she said was full - her estimate is about 250 girls.

And of course those that sat it late probably made a late decision to enter and so didn't have the years of tutoring/preparation that those that had always planned to have their DC sit it would have put in. [I don't buy the "they had 3 months extra preparation" argument - I think they had much less prep.]

In any case, seems like it will turn out to have been a storm in a teacup.

Hope so as that would be the best for those who carefully followed rules, filled SIFs in time and sat for the tests, believing that to be the only time that Schools would be taking the tests. There is a strong likelihood that Most of those who decided later, would have taken other schools tests and may also be aware of their results and then decided to have another go as opportunity presented.

There is an additional late test this Friday at Tiffins for those that read and relied on the initial published date of the late test which was to be held on 7th December.

This was my son's first test. We started prepping on 21st October.

Not really sure whether he was up to standard or not. Anyone know what sort of marks you should be getting on school CAT assessments to be passing at Tiffin?
