Eton appeal

Post by IOU »

My son just received the result from the eton exam and he did not pass. Can we appeal the decision?

I have no idea. You could contact the school and ask, I suppose?

I doubt it. ' The Head Master reserves the right to refuse to admit any boy.'

The independent sector doesn't have the same rights of appeal as grammar schools. DS didn't get in; he didn't meet the standard. I'd move on, if I were you. The school says a number of boys will be put on the waiting list; if DS is not on that already, I would say that he stands virtually no chance of getting in. There are other schools where he would be better suited and be with boys of an equal academic standard. I know you must be disappointed but you should not dwell on it. You will find the right school, but Eton is not the one.

Good luck.

I think Kingfisher is right, the boys will either be offered a place, put on a waiting list or neither of those.
I suspect they don't take many from the waiting list. You could contact the school to ask for feedback - are you looking at many other schools at present?
