Genuine recommendations by PM only (private message) are acceptable - but beware of the possibility that someone who appears to be offering a recommendation may have a vested interest! Please let us know if you think anyone is abusing the system by soliciting for business or 'spamming'. If you receive a recommendation from one of them, it could be worth considering seriously (while still exercising a degree of caution).

If you receive a recommendation from anyone else, please exercise extreme caution!

Hi Lanreboo

Have you checked the catchment area for CRGS? they are a very limited number of places for OOC children and I think they are allocated on score ...

the map of the catchment is in this document (page 11) , I think Goosnargh is further than Mellor or Chaigley etc?

I have checked the catchment area,unfortunately we are not in the catchment area of any grammar,hence the reason why we are looking for private tutor,other than that we will have to move house.

Aiming for one of the OOC places is quite a high risk strategy - with or without a tutor. They offer the OOC places in score order and there are quite a lot of people sitting the exam. If you are thinking of moving then move while you have time - to get an in catchment place requires a straight pass only.

I know the annual intake is 120 or so
does anyone have any info on the number of candidates who sat he entrance exam in the last 3 or 4 years please?
If we have to move it means travelling from clitheroe to goosnargh school for the next 2 years...

Here are some figures from 2008:
They take 120 pupils each year;
For entrance into Year 7 in Sept 2008 ( the latest I have figures for) 92 in catchment and 28 out of area pupils got a place. 411 children sat the tests (205 in area and 206 OOA) There were 13 appeals, none were successful.
