Appeal Success Rate
Wirral - of 130 Grammar appeals 65 were granted places, if my maths serves me right thats 50% - is that quite high? Not that I'm complaining!!!!!!!

Hi SPUD,
Long time no see, I hope you and your family had a great summer.
Where did you get those figures from?
I know Wirral Grammar Girls had 33 appeals and 6 were successful.
23 spaces still left unfilled.
I'm quite shocked by that high number, although extremely grateful too.
This year does seem to be very different to previous years.

Wow.
That means the LEA lady I spoke to was feeding me utter nonsense.
I wonder if there was only 1 set of appeals?? Because the info I got back in May was that there 23 unfilled places not 13 as this report says.
At WGG open evening in July the head suggested that girls had passed but hadn't put it as first choice.
Would they have to go through the appeals process to if they have later decided to go to this school?
Thanks for the info SPUD, post it on Wirral too I think other parents might be interested.

appeals and rates of success
Come to sunny Torbay where no child appealing for Churston Ferrers Grammar School has ever won an appeal, not for social, emotion, disability or in fact any other reason. Hey-ho - it's a nice day out for the clerk who is paid by the school and the panel!
None ever
Mmmmm....we understood that an appeal system was a chance to explain things like underperformance, perhaps to demonstrate the effect on the child of not attending v the impact on the school.
It would appear that whatever circumstances befell any child in almost a decade - the clerk (paid by the school) and his panel, never uphold any child's appeal.
The Ombudsman's office say that this is all fine and dandy.
We are awaiting a decision from the Ombudsman's office about the multitude of failings surrounding our appeal - watch this space.
But don't hold your breath!
