Solihull school ap places!

Post by lottie78 »

Hi,
Just wondered if anyone has heard from Solihull school about assisted places. Has it all been done and dusted and am I waiting for nothing?
They are having an open evening after half term for those offered a place. I had hoped to hear before then ( half term next week, surely no letters sent then)
Ds has been offered a place but we need ap, don't want to take him to open evening without knowing he can go there..... Look at what you could of won!!
All ap forms were to be in by feb 11th, so not long ago but really sick of waiting. I feel like the last 6 months has just been watching for post and waiting :(

Any ideas?

I thought the offer letter would state whether it was full fees or an AP.

Might be easier to just call to check?

Hi,
No you fill out the forms after the offer, I did find that abit odd, would save a lot of heartache if they got all the info before offering the place. Ds is so happy he got offered a place but is still waiting to see if we can take it!

Loftier78. They will be assessing ap applications during the half term according to the bursar and will let parents know soon after half term. She told me that they have funds equivalent to 8 full ap's and therefore all applications are looked at accordingly, trying to stretch funds to support more than 8 individuals . Hope that helps.

Hi everyone

Got an email from the Bursars accountant today asking for some more details
So am assuming they are still working through the AP places

And there was me waiting for the post hoping for the final decision

DD has her heart set on Solihull School as she is very sporty
Any amount of assistance will be good!

Good luck everyone waiting :)

Hi,
Got email saying they will be working on them through half term, will have results in time for march deadline but can't guarantee before open evening!
Feel awful taking Ds to open evening and then most likely having it snatched away.

Hi lottie 78

Guess that implies they must have loads to go through :(
They do have a generous bursary pot but all depends on how many applications they get

Is a bit awkward going to the Yr 7 meeting
They should really have arranged it after the March deadline

Fingers crossed we get some good news!

Is Solihull your 1st choice too?

:)

Yes,
Ds loves sport too and the school is quite close to us, ds2 has mobility issues so logistics are very important, everything about the school just fits, which makes it all so much worse!
It's such a nervous wait, I know they take 60 from the juniors but I wonder how many other places they offer/ over offer, and then how many of them fill out the AP form. God I'm sounding neurotic now... It's all a numbers game now, throw in a bit of luck and that's it. Really do feel awful about the open evening though. I wish they'd done the ap forms before so they know the situation before offering places!
Good luck

Lots of luck, we found out this week our son had a place at Warwick school but no bursary place and it was devastating. I still haven't had the heart to reject the place although I know it is unattainable!
