STRS New Head

For those of you who are hoping for a positive email/letter next week with regards to your DS and a place at Tommies, Mt Matthew Morgan, one of the current Deputy Headmasters, has been appointed as the new Headmaster from September 2013 to take over from the retiring Mr Kellie. Whilst Mr Kellie will be a big pair of shoes to follow, I am sure Mr Morgan will be an excellent replacement, my son for one will be delighted and I know Mr Morgan is tremendously popular with the boys.

Interesting that another grammar school has gone for a deputy head to take over -just like Pate's last year. I remember a long thread then questioning the wisdom of such an appointment - hopefully STRS will find just like Pate's has that such a move can work cery well.

The difference here is he's only been there five years and has experience of senior leadership elsewhere.

Russell Ellicott had been at Pate's four years when appointed head and he had been assistant head at Marling before joining Pate's, so quite similar curcumstances?

Just checked, Matthew Morgan was Assistant Head at a different school before joining STRS, so exactly the same career path.

Matthew began his teaching career outside Gloucestershire so has a wider experience. STRS were lucky to tempt him to leave Bucks ...

I too am delighted that Mr Morgan has been appointed as the new Head. All the boys seem to have a great respect for him. My son is very pleased... Now I wonder if Mr Daniel will be applying for the Deputy's post?
